Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3. (V1.2)



End-Point Assessment (EPA) is the final assessment for an apprentice. An apprentice cannot achieve their apprenticeship without passing the End-Point Assessment.

EPA is an opportunity for an apprentice to showcase what they have learnt during their apprenticeship for a Lead Adult Care Worker. This assessment includes a situational judgement test and professional discussion.

The End-Point Assessment for Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 can be carried out remotely or face-to-face.


Gateway requirements for a Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 apprentice includes:

  • Evidence the apprentice has achieved Level 2 maths and English

  • Evidence of (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure

  • Evidence the apprentice has achieved Level 3 Diploma in Care

  • Evidence that 15 Standards are complete as a part of the Care Certificate

  • A minimum of two witness testimonies from two service users

  • Completion of self-assessment document

Assessment Methods

Situational Judgement Test

The apprentice will have 90 minutes to answer 60 multiple choice questions and will assess the apprentice’s knowledge along with their judgement to carry out the role of adult care worker.

Professional Discussion 

Once the apprentice has achieved a minimum pass for their knowledge test, they will be able to complete their professional discussion. The apprentice will be asked 15 questions within 45 minutes.​


Apprentices will achieve an overall pass Distinction, Merit, Pass or Fail for their End-Point Assessment. The maximum mark available is 60. Those apprentices scoring over 40 will achieve a minimum Pass. 

These results will be communicated within 10 days of assessment. Should a learner need to retake either or both assessment methods this will take place within 6 months of initial assessment.
