EPA Overview
End-Point Assessment (EPA) is the final stage of the apprenticeship and provides an opportunity for apprentices to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and behaviours they have developed during their Learning and Development Consultant Business Partner Level 5 apprenticeship.
The assessment for a Learning and Development Consultant Business Partner Level 5 apprentice includes a Work-Based Project with Professional Discussion and a Presentation and Q&A Based on Learning Journal
An apprentice cannot achieve their apprenticeship without passing the End-Point Assessment.
End-Point Assessment for the Learning and Development Consultant Business Partner Level 5 can be conducted remotely or face-to-face.
Gateway Requirements
Gateway requirements for Learning and Development Consultant Business Partner Level 5 apprentices are;
Evidence of achieving relevant maths and English qualifications if required by funding regulations or the employer
Completion of the Learning Journal (ready for submission to the EPAO)
Typically, 18 months on programme
Assessment Methods
The EPA for the Learning and Development Consultant Business Partner Level 5 apprenticeship is made up of two assessment components, both of which must be passed to achieve the apprenticeship.
Work-Based Project with Professional Discussion
Apprentices will work on a project which demonstrates their consultancy skills concerning a real-life business-related problem or objective. They will submit a report on the project, including evidence of how it was delivered and how outcomes were achieved. The Professional Discussion will last for 75 minutes and around 10-12 questions, based on the project, will be asked.
Presentation and Q&A Based on Learning Journal
Apprentices will give a 25-minute presentation on competency-based examples from the learning journal that best demonstrate the key themes of ‘new and emerging trends and developments in the L&D sector, ‘L&D specialisms and their business impact’ and ‘leadership’. The Q&A will last for 35 minutes and there will be approximately 5-7 questions to seek clarification.
Results
NQual will communicate results within 10 working days of the final assessment.
If an apprentice Fails one or more component, they will be offered the opportunity to re-sit / re-take the component(s). It is then up to the apprentice’s employer how many attempts an apprentice is given.
Where any assessment method must be re-sat or re-taken, the apprentice will be awarded a maximum EPA grade of Distinction. Re-sits and re-takes are not offered to an apprentice wishing to move from Pass to a higher grade.
