Overview
End-Point Assessment (EPA) is the final assessment for an apprentice. An apprentice cannot achieve their apprenticeship without passing the End-Point Assessment.
EPA is an opportunity for an apprentice to showcase what they have learnt during their apprenticeship for a Team Leader. This assessment includes a Presentation with Q&A and a Professional Discussion Underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence.
The End-Point Assessment for Team Leader Level 3 can be carried out remotely or face-to-face.
Gateway
Gateway requirements for a Team Leader Level 3 apprentice include:
Evidence the apprentice has achieved Level 2 maths and English
A completed Portfolio of Evidence mapped, demonstrating completion of knowledge, skills, and behaviours
Typically, 12 months on programme
Assessment Method
Presentation with Q&A
The apprentice will prepare and deliver a Presentation, followed by Q&A, based on topics covered within the apprenticeship. There are 4 possible presentation themes, and the chosen topic (based on one of the themes) will be given post Gateway approval. It should provide a summary of their role as a team leader and what they do and how this is relevant to their role and organisation. The Presentation will typically last for 20 minutes and the questioning will typically last for 30 minutes.
Professional Discussion Underpinned by a Portfolio of Evidence
The Professional Discussion is a two-way structured discussion between The apprentice will take part in a meaningful, in-depth two-way discussion with the Independent End-Point Assessor. This discussion will allow the apprentice to demonstrate the occupation’s knowledge, skills, and behaviour and that they are occupationally competent. This discussion will last 60 minutes.
Results
Results will be communicated within 10 working days of the final assessment.
If an apprentice Fails one or more component, they will be offered the opportunity to re-sit / re-take the component(s). It is then up to the apprentice’s employer how many attempts an apprentice is given.
Where any assessment method must be re-sat or re-taken, the apprentice will be awarded a maximum EPA grade of Pass. Re-sits and re-takes are not offered to an apprentice wishing to move from a Pass to a higher grade.
