They specialise in areas such as special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social and emotional wellbeing, or curriculum provision, adapting activities and approaches to support learner progress and achievement.

For Training Providers, delivering the Specialist Teaching Assistant Level 5 standard requires:

• Supporting apprentices to apply specialist knowledge in real educational settings

• Developing advanced skills in planning, intervention delivery, and learner support

• Preparing apprentices for End-Point Assessment (EPA), including demonstrating competence in both practice and professional discussion
