The assessment for a Leader in Adult Care Level 5 apprentice includes an Observation of Leadership and a Professional Discussion.
An apprentice cannot achieve their apprenticeship without passing the End-Point Assessment.

Gateway Requirements
Gateway requirements for Leader in Adult Care Level 5 apprentices are:
Evidence of achieving relevant maths and English qualifications if required by funding regulations or the employer
Successful completion of level 5 Leadership
Typically, 18 months on programme
Assessment Methods
The EPA for the Leader in Adult Care Level 5 apprenticeship is made up of two assessment components, both of which must be passed to achieve the apprenticeship.
Observation of Leadership
The apprentice will be given 4 weeks to prepare for their observation. The observation method will last 90 minutes, which will be made up of a 60-minute direct observation and a 30-minute post observation questioning, +10% if necessary.
Professional Discussion
Apprentices will take part in a two-way discussion with the independent assessor for 90 minutes, +/-10% if needed. The Independent End-Point Assessor will ask questions relating to all knowledge, skills and behaviours highlighted within this assessment method. This list can be found within the Leader in Adult Care Level 5 Support Pack.
Results
NQual will communicate results within 10 working days of the final assessment.
If an apprentice Fails one or more component, they will be offered the opportunity to re-sit / re-take the component(s). It is then up to the apprentice’s employer how many attempts an apprentice is given.
Where any assessment method must be re-sat or re-taken, the apprentice will be awarded a maximum EPA grade of Pass. Re-sits and re-takes are not offered to an apprentice wishing to move from Pass to a higher grade.
