At NQual, we believe leadership extends beyond the workplace. This year, our CEO, Ashley Robertson, is putting that belief into action by taking part in the King's Trust CEO Challenge.
The initiative brings together senior leaders from businesses across the UK to raise funds and awareness for a cause that remains as important as ever: supporting young people who are not currently in employment, education or training (NEET) to access opportunities, overcome barriers, and progress towards their personal, educational and career goals.
What is the King's Trust CEO Challenge?
Created as part of the King's Trust's 50th anniversary celebrations, the CEO Challenge invites business leaders to step away from their day-to-day responsibilities and take on a demanding three-day, two-night expedition in the Scottish Highlands.
Participants will face a series of physical and mental challenges designed to test their resilience, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and leadership abilities in an unfamiliar environment. Working together, they will navigate obstacles, adapt to changing conditions, and push themselves beyond their comfort zones.
While the challenge itself is demanding, its purpose goes far beyond the Highlands. Every participant is helping to raise funds that support the King's Trust's work with young people across the UK.
Why The King's Trust CEO Challenge Matters
More than 900,000 young people in the UK are currently not in employment, education or training (NEET).
For 50 years, the King's Trust has worked to support young people who are not in employment, education or training by helping them overcome barriers, access opportunities, and take positive steps towards employment, education, training and personal development. Through training programmes, mentoring, practical support and access to opportunities, the King's Trust has helped thousands of young people overcome barriers and gain the confidence, skills and experience needed to move forward.
Funds raised through the CEO Challenge will help ensure this support continues to reach those who need it most, providing tailored guidance, practical support and opportunities that help young people achieve their ambitions, whether through employment, education, training or other positive outcomes.
Why Ashley Is Taking Part in the CEO Challenge
Ashley Robertson has committed to taking on the CEO Challenge to support the King's Trust's mission and contribute to a cause that has a lasting impact on NEET young people across the UK.
The challenge presents an opportunity not only to test personal resilience but also to help raise awareness and funding for programmes that can genuinely change lives.

This one's close to my heart. Everything we do at NQual revolves around the impact we have on learners, and that includes supporting young people on their journey into learning and ensuring education is accessible to all, not just some. I'm excited for the challenge — nervous, and maybe slightly scared, I've got to ride a bike for a chunk of it. But why not push myself out of my comfort zone, when that's exactly what we expect of our young people and our NQual learners every day?
Reflecting on her participation, Ashley hopes to encourage others to get behind the campaign and support the work being carried out by the King's Trust.
